Amy put an arm around his shoulders, still looking at the painting as the other visitors to the Philadelphia Museum of Art bustled around them.
It still said For Amy, in familiar sloping letters.
Rory hugged their son from his other side. “Because it reminds Mom of a friend she lost,” he said, simply.
“Still Life: Vase with Twelve Sunflowers,” Anthony read, from the sign beside it. “By Vincent van Gogh. Was your friend named Vincent?”
“Yes,” said Amy, softly. “Yes, he was.”
