“I’m honored you’ve trusted me with this,” said Gomez, solemnly.
Wednesday looked over her shoulder at him. “It’s only hair, Father.”
“On the contrary! This is a ritual, one you usually share with your mother.”
“I merely find a proper braid difficult to do myself.”
“Still.” Gomez’s fingers slid through her hair, plaiting the strands together, then tied off the end. “A father likes to do things for his child.”
She tugged the braid. “Your work is sufficient.”
He grinned. “Such praise! I will do even better on the other, dear one.”
“We shall see,” said Wednesday, and he laughed.
