Castiel closed the door behind them. “Is this room not satisfactory?”
“No, it’s…” Dean gestured vaguely around the motel room - the faded tacky wallpaper, the generic paintings, the cheap bedspreads - and sighed. “Places like this used to be home.”
“Ah,” said Cas. “You are experiencing cognitive dissonance between nostalgia for the better parts of your childhood and your current understanding and higher standards.”
Dean huffed a laugh. “Yeah, that.”
“Then I have a suggestion.”
“Oh, yeah?”
Cas caught his hand, pulling him closer. “Make some new memories.”
“Huh,” Dean repeated, and kissed him. “Sounds like a plan.”
