“Why me?” sighed Tony, holding the bag of frozen peas to his head.
“Because,” said McGee, “you should have ducked left instead of right?”
He hummed skeptically, “Not sure that’s it.”
“Because your partner wasn’t fast enough to back you up?” McGee suggested.
Tony half-turned to look at him. “No, it definitely wasn’t that, Probie.”
Gibbs swept into the living room and swapped Tony’s bag of peas for a fresh bag of corn. “Because you’re a dedicated federal agent who puts the safety of civilians above his own.”
Tony managed a smile. “Maybe that was it, boss.”
“Absolutely,” said McGee.
