Spring Fever!

Or cabin fever, whichever. Yesterday I went on a cleaning spree in the kitchen and everything is practically sparkling. If it would just get warm enough to keep the windows open all day... :P Ended up freezing by early evening and had to turn the heat back on. I feel the urge to clean again today, but I have an entry for an art contest to work on. If I manage to complete it early enough I might go tackle some more sorting in the Big Room. I still have a lot of random stuff jammed in boxes and I'd like to get rid of some of it, and whatever I want to keep is going in the crawlspace in my room (which I also need to go through again). You'd think winter would be the perfect time to sort junk inside while it's so cold outside and then enjoy the freedom of warm weather to work outside, but with no heat in that part of the house, well, it isn't easy to climb over stuff and juggle boxes while wearing a winter coat. :P

In the further adventures of learning to live with Asperger's, I've been trying to make an internal map of my perception of physical space. I went for an eye exam last week and while picking out frames I was repeatedly told that smaller frames would mean thinner lenses, I should try a new style of frame, yada yada. I tried to explain to them, without mentioning Asperger's, that I'm very sensitive to my peripheral vision, the weight of the glasses on my face, and where the frame falls within my line of vision. They kept going back to "aesthetics" and I forget what word they kept using, but basically for the vanity of the wearer. :P I had to stop myself from yelling at them that I don't care what other people think of my glasses, whether the frames are fashionable or not. I only care about being able to see and not being distracted by the visual input of where the frame falls. Also, due to the cost of my medical needs for the lens I had to go with less fancy, less expensive frames anyway.

For some reason, round frames are difficult to come by these days. :| Oblong and tiny rectangles made the majority of choices, but in the bargain frames I did find a shape I liked, a dark blue tortoiseshell design with plain ear pieces. I wish I could just reuse my old frames, they're perfect. :P On the up side, the vision in one eye didn't change and the other only worsened by a small amount. I went ahead and ordered new glasses because the protective glare coating on my current ones is separating from the lens; don't ask me how that happened, the optician couldn't figure it out, either. o_O

Now on to art...or cleaning...or writing..!
