pah unfortuantely it did come back about 4 weeks later and she had to be put down. But i know of many ratties that were fine after tumour removal so that doesnt mean to say all wont be well with yours.
I plan to. But i want to be completely comfortable with the vets i use as my last girly had a cyst near her eye and the vet insisted it was a tumour and couldn't operated because of it's positioning. She died as a result of him not lancing the cyst as he would not believe it was not a tumour - until it burst. Anyhow it seems they use the older - riskier - way of anaesthetising the rat via injection, so i'm gonna to see the vets in trafford as they are closely linked to the vetinary hospital (out-patient'ish version) and they do gas administration. Its her 1st tumour - that is if it is! the vet couldn't confirm it when i rang today! i'm not gonna give up yet, unless it comes back.
I really hope it turns out ok, best of luck for the rat, and the bank balance. Maybe i'll see you on sunday, if you don't know what i'm talking about then ask luke, or if he doesn't know get him to look at his email.
Oh no - I hope she's okay; little rodenty things do have a tendency to develop tumours, if she's going to be very poorly constantly I'd tend to lean towards puting her down? But the vet may have it wrong and it could be just a little cyst/gland thing.
Well i'm taking her to a different vet on saturday, as i want to be entirely sure before she has the operation, plus they were really good with the kitties and they do a more up to date procedure. she hasn't noticed the lump, still as inquisitive as ever so i don't think she's ill as such. she survived the wave of chest infections that got my colony so i am confident she'll beat this. :)
