Summer has officially earned itself a permanent spot right next to winter on my Shit List. This weather SUCKS ASS. (Ironically, I'm now somewhat looking forward to winter as I'm told that all this damn rain means that we may go easy on the White Crap during winter, as that is apparently a norm. We shall see - check back with me in about 7 - 8 months when I'm liable to be grouching about that season, heh.)
I keep an eye on the outdoor critters - they aren't any happier about this crap heat/humidity than I am, but thank God they're holding up all right. Needless to say, their water bowls are refilled with fresh cold regularly. Lord, I wish I had my own place big enough with AC for all of us... At least the skunk family seems to have moved on, after my mom inadvertently spooked them (without getting sprayed, thankfully) one day. Unfortunately, with the mulberries all around the back of the barn, the raccoons appear to be hanging around. Which means those otherwise perfectly good trees are probably going to get cut down sometime later this year, next time my dad can get a hold of his friend with the chainsaw... :(
I've (along with Sam) been holed up in my room most of this weekend with my window air unit. To otherwise occupy myself I've been cleaning ALL THE THINGS, or at least attempting to. Progress is slow but sure.
Got sunburnted on my upper arms the other day while working with my dad. Oddly enough, my forearms will tan, but my upper arms seem to burn. In any case, no more sleeveless shirts for me - and I should've remembered the sunscreen. The burn isn't bad - just slightly uncomfortable - though now I have these gross little white blisters popping up on my right arm (which got it the worst, for some reason). I have Solarcaine and anti-bacterial spray, and some aloe gel, so I'll be using those for a bit.
Also finally got to break out my box of haircolor that I'd been wanting to use for some time. Trying a new shade this round - I don't normally buy Feria on account of it's expensive ($10 - 14 a box, depending on where you buy it), but I spotted this OMGPURPLE that they came out with recently, so you know I had to try it. It is, indeed, most purple. I'm quite pleased with it; my folks, predictably, are not. >:D (Shade V48, "Violet Vixen", if any of you brave souls out there are curious to try for yourselves. And yes, at some point when I'm not too lazy to dig out and hook up my camera, there will be pictures.)
As to the previously-mentioned damaged truck, well...not much we can do on that. Dad has his insurance looking into it, but last little I had heard, they weren't expecting to get much, if anything, out of it. In any case Dad copes by C-clamping the door shut if he needs to drive long distances; for short runs (like into town) he can hold it in to keep it from flying outward (it won't close properly any more now due to its damage). We get by the best that we can. *shrug*
