For anyone wondering why I still wouldn't want to live in the Shoebox, all you have to do is take one look at OK.
Most of the houses down there do NOT have a basement. They can't, because of the high water table. Supposedly this was the reason my dad chose not to build a proper basement, but I suspect otherwise (mainly, he didn't want the hassle of extra time and expense).
The Shoebox has no basement. Only a meager crawlspace underneath, that has to be accessed from outside.
Yeah. A crawlspace ain't gonna cut it with a friggin' EF-5.
So I wait, and hope, that somehow, I will avoid having to live in that place.
And I'm saying a few prayers for the people of OK. (And for my brother and SIL and nephew, who in a few days are moving to Texas which has been lately a hotbed of tornadic activity)
