a simple guide of basic stuff for
whatsmynom
this is all really basic crap, but it's helpful if you don't know them.
tips for gchat, livejournal, twitter, &ffnet
gchat:
bold: *text here*
italics: _text here_
strikethrough: -text here-
*all chats are saved in your chat records at mail.google.com unless you specify that a chat is "off the record".
*you can search through chats in the same way you search through emails at mail.google.com
livejournal:
bold: text here
italics:
underline:
strikethrough:
hyperlink a word:
text here *note- you can hyperlink an image by replacing "text here" with this code:
post an image:
*note- if you copy the code from photobucket, it will work, but it will link to your photobucket
livejournal user:
name here center: text here
lj cut: all text you want behind the cut
white text: text here
adjust font size: text here -- one size bigger. you can do +2, +3, etc.
text here -- one size smaller. you can do -2, -2, etc.
*when using html in a standard livejournal post (i.e. not a comment) make sure to type it out in the html section, and not the rich text section. otherwise it will just post the code.
*you cannot edit comments without a paid account
twitter:
*you cannot DM someone unless they are following you.
*if your tweets are locked, a person will not see your @tweets to them unless they are following you.
*if you want to only see a selection of your feed at a time (i.e. fanfic authors), you can make a list with only those users. when you view that list, you will only see those users' tweets.
ffnet:
*if it fails and will not let you upload a document, more likely than not you'll still be able to edit documents. open an old chapter and copy/paste the new one into it. you should be able to post it without a problem.
*in regards to ratings:
rated M = drug use, sensuality, foul language, etc.
rated NC17 = smut, explicit mentions of smut
NC17 is against ffnet's terms of services, as is RPF and author's note chapters. the ~mods reserve the right to pull your fic if
notified of the violation, since you have to agree to the TOS to post.
*summaries and titles must be G rated, according to the TOS
