Did the last cleaning of the apartment today and turned in the keys.
45 days or less before the security deposit is returned. So, just about a month and a half before I have to scream at them some more.
Only one casualty in the whole move and it happened today. My poor vacuum cleaner totally choked to death on... something. I'm betting the motor burned out (or at least over heated) due to all the drywall dust that kept blocking the filters up.
Now, one more day with my parents around and then I can get to the business of setting this place up the way I want it, on my own time, in my own way. I know my mother thinks she's being helpful, but she still doesn't get that I don't want her help. It rarely, if ever, matches with what I actually want. I've told her this. Dozens of times over the past decade. It has yet to sink in.
Frustrating. grr...
Cable guy had to cancel today due to vehicle problems. Rescheduled for Wednesday, same 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. time block. It would be nice if he were to show up at the beginning of that... I'd like to get some errands run and stuff.
When I came home from work on Monday, the kitchen blinds (the ones that had tried to kill me) were replaced with a completely new set. The stove had been worked on, too. Unfortunately, the stove still doesn't work quite right--they replaced the knobs, but never turned the gas on to check the pilot lights, one of which doesn't stay lit. The oven doesn't seem to light on it's own, either, even with that pilot light lit. And the knob for the stove/broiler isn't a stove/broiler knob... no temperature gradients marked on it, just the same stuff from the burner knobs. They did leave me a "bonus" knob, though... sitting right there on my table (right near the signed work order they left--just like they should!).
Still infinitely better than the old place. :)
Overall, the move has been flawless. Can't really complain. Housewarming party eventually. Maybe Halloween... it would be appropriate.
