Right... a post... or something...

It's been a moderately busy day here at the office, but the lack of motivation has just made it drag.

Talked with the boss for a bit about the whole quitting thing. Man, is he going to miss having me (and the other guy who's leaving that is also a storehouse of information) around. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there's anything that can be done that would lead to me staying. So, it's official. I'm out of here as of 2 March (decided I may as well finish out the week and make sure everything I do is in order for the end/beginning of month transition).

Still going to pitch the idea of the creation of a new job title for the department that would actually, officially, do the stuff that I've been doing. It would add at least a little bit of ladder for people to climb. Could even lead to more people staying more than three years (which seems about when people leave).

Walking past the IT department a little while ago I couldn't help but notice they just had a new server rack delivered. The Styrofoam packing bits were stacked up and the mostly empty rack was just being fitted with server hunks. I'm guessing this means we're in for a network outage of some sort either tomorrow or Monday.

Refresh DC meeting is tonight. So I won't be seeing home until round-about midnight. At least the "snow" is frozen solid now and I don't have to worry about sinking in it.

Yesterday most people in my apartment complex and neighborhood seem to have had the day off work. It also seems that most of them didn't leave their apartments. They most certainly didn't dig their cars out before the overnight freeze. I passed at least a dozen very unhappy people trying to free their vehicles this morning. Even saw one guy going at a pile of ice/snow with a full pick axe! That's something you don't see every day.

work, technology, refresh-dc, ice, quitting, weather
