VINDICATION
Sweet sweet guard team vindication!! (and that makes any breakup a little easier because i know that i'm GREAT at something all by myself).
Anyway, we had two comps in two weekends, this past weekend being the Provincial University Championships (it WOULD be OUA's if the fricking athetic board would recognize us as a varisty sport, but alas, guard team is still just a somewhat competitive club according to university officials). Anyway, last weekend was in Ottawa and it was our first comp together as a team despite practicing together all year (all the other comps during the year had a different mix of people so my actual team didn't compete together until last weekend). We did pretty good. I messed up in Water Rescue so we didn't make finals in that, but we WON first aid and came THIRD in priorities and THIRD in manikin carry (ie. a PHYSICAL event). We were fourth overall and it was pretty exciting.
This weekend was the weekend i've been preparing for all year. And we came.....THIRD OVERALL!!!!!!! I have never placed top three in a guard comp before in my life and finally it happened....at a BIG TIME event!!! It was so exciting. we also WON first aid...which means we are the BEST in the province at first aid. :P Then we came in fourth for a bunch of other events, which was pretty funny because fourth is probably worst than coming last because its so close. So we just made it into a giant joke. Anyway, I am very proud of me and my team!!!!!! and now i have medals hanging on my wall to remind me of my and our greatness :)
it was also just pure fun. I love guard team and i love our team and I'm so happy I decided to compete again this year. i'm all smiles right now.
