I started this morning with about an hour on the heating pad, then I did about a half hour of yoga. This really seemed to open up my stiff back, and I think I have to make this part of my morning routine as much as possible.
I wore my Birkenstocks all day, and I didn't carry anything that weighed more than a couple of pounds, inclduing taking most everything out of my purse beyond wallet, phone, chapstick, and keys.
In this way, I managed to enjoy a day of quiet activity with Emerson and my friend JWL and his mom, who took the bus in from Pennsylvania, where he is visiting her for Christmas. We had a luxurious lunch at Le Pain Quotidien with lots of dippy things and good bread. The fresh ricotta tastes like a pure white cloud and there was a cup of tapenade under a layer of pesto that was so green it seemed just-mown. Mmmmm. Then we strolled (slowly and gently) through Central Park from Strawberry Fields and past the Carousel down to Columbus Circle. We wandered around the Time Warner Center, watching the lights go down over the city from the view mezzanine, and looking at some cool photography exhibits. Then we took the bus down to Times Square and watched them setting up for tomorrow night. After we dropped JWL and mom back at the bus station, we went to see Rocky Balboa (predictable in a good way) and made our way back home to eat more sushi.
Emerson is now watching more boxing on TV while I surf the web with my heating pad on my back and peace reigns for the moment.
Thanks for all your nice words. I'm feeling a lot better today.
health,
