Since someone in the anon meme wanted to know what I thought about the Nanjing museum I saw, here's what I really think.

Some of the stuff I might say can be graphic so don't complain because I warned you )

My family has a strong distaste [though the term should be much harsher] for the Japanese. When they invaded the village where my grandparent grew up, not only did they wreak havoc, but they also left the village in a state where it was hard to live on afterwards -- staple herbs and crops were either all dug up and stolen or razed and...it was a mess. Living life there was already hard enough before they came, but they just made it a million times worse.

When I read a blog post noting how all the books pertaining to Nanjing or any other part of the war in a certain Japanese bookstore did not mention any of their cruelties and glorified their cause and their soldiers, I felt a sense of utter resentment. War is gruesome any way you put it, but they were just horrible...and their denying it to this day makes my blood boil.

I can't really forgive the Japanese -- or anyone, who partakes in this horrible type of torture. While I obviously don't believe that I should hate the Japanese people of today, I still harbor harsh feelings when the topic of any part of the 2nd Sino-Japanese War [or the later denial of their cruelties] come up.

I never really asked my grandparents (mostly my dad's mother) in fear that I might bring back some unwanted memories of what happened but I can already imagine what it must have been like.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I know that I shouldn't hate the Japanese today either, it's already in the past, people change but it's just kind of get rid of that feeling. I know Japan's culture is different from my morals and stuff, they're so proud that they refuse anything is wrong with their country. But still...
