Um.
Yeah, so I come home today to find a handwritten note on the foot of my bed explaining that my cheapskate housemates have decided to cancel the TV license --- today. So I need to unplug my aerial and not watch television anymore.
What.
The.
Hell.
I watch TV every day. I was a TV major, after all. Granted, I don't watch as much as I would if I were in the US and had cable, but I watch the BBC Breakfast News every morning, switch over to watch a bit of Freshly Squeezed before Everybody Loves Raymond. I mean, it's how I know when to leave the house, it's part of my routine - I get ready and I have to go by the time Just Shoot Me starts. Not only that, but I like watching Everybody Loves Raymond every morning. It's nice to start the day with some laughs.
And to cancel it on a Friday, with QI and Jonathan Ross, not to mention the 3rd Indiana Jones movie on Sunday (which I've never seen and will complete my first viewing of the trilogy in time for the new movie)... AND TO DO IT WITHOUT EVEN CONSULTING ME.
The note apologized for them not telling me face-to-face, but they rarely see me. It's true, and it's actually one of the perks of living here. But come on? The license fee is less than 140 pounds a year, divided by 4 people, I mean, for a YEAR of television! Ugh. This just pissed me off after a rather stressful couple of weeks. It is not what I needed, especially because the stress is going to continue for a bit in the near future.
We finally submitted Megan's visa application today. We should hear the results in 3 weeks. Which means next week I'll give my month's notice. No TV is the last straw. If Megan's visa is denied, I'll move somewhere else by myself. If it's approved, we'll get our own flat. I really hope it's approved.
Tomorrow night I'm going to see a movie with Janice and probably go to Pizza Express or maybe get some Chinese or Thai. Hopefully it'll distract me from wanting to stab my housemates with my TV aerial.
I can't wait to once again live with people I like.
