if i had had the required brain power, this would have been a highly pretentious fic about names and the sound of names and Deep Symbolic Thingies. i've vaguely thought about doing something with the following outdated snippet, for example, but never got around to doing it: Hakkai's name is still new, like the scar tissue across wounds that have yet to heal completely. When he tries it out in his head the catch of breath in the middle trips him up, every time, harsh like the vowels of a dead man's name never were.

there was actually a whole lot of backstory behind this ( in which, you know, the actual relevance of this to the 31_days theme would have been explained, among other things ) but i am lazy was pressed for time.
also, i'm really mixed up about loki^2 canon ( ...HAHAHAHA ) but i think the wikipedia entry is probably wrong, and the album cover isn't a homage to any rival band. it is kind of in the style of The Smiths, though, because i am uncreative.
