My Kindle e reader should arrive early next week. I'm glad I waited for the Kindle 2 version -the design looks a lot more elegant and user friendly than the first generation. I considered the benefits of the DX version which has a much larger screen, but it didn't seem worth the price, not to mention the size penalty when taking it on trips.

Two hardcovers arrived this morning, possibly the last paper books I will order for myself for a while: Persian Fire - Tom Holland's history of the Persian/Greek wars of the 5th century BC, and Bones of the Hills - the third novel in Conn Iggulden's trilogy based on the life of Genghis Khan. I'm almost done with Holland's Rubicon, a very interesting history of the last decades of the Roman republic leading up to the first emperor Augustus.
