There is something truly satisfying about nibbling at a baguette...to me it's like stopping to smell the roses.
In three hours I will be standing in front of a class of 55 speaking French. Aieee! Soyez sympa, s'il vous plait! Cuz ca me plaira!
Financial experiment: In the past six days, I went out of my way to eat and have fun almost as cheaply as humanly possible in Paris. For example, one day I had tomatos, canned green beans, cheese and bread for both lunch AND dinner. Last night, I had an apple and two scrambled eggs. I attended free entry/open bar hour at the Queen on Thursday, and I learned how to dance Dutty Wine (?) from a Haitian girl and two guys from African countries. I also did a little schoolwork (c'est une bonne eleve).
Despite my best efforts, I still had to shell out 60 euros. Paris costs, at the very minimum, 10 euros a day to not die of malnourishment, to not become bored and depressed, and to not get stuck at the Metro station. Mom, Dad, I promise I have loftier goals than not dying, etc, while in Paris, but do know that my financial experiment was a telling one! And that I chose to eat chocolate over buying a bottle of wine. You gotta give and take, quoi.
