jitters

So England has decended into its stereotype of cold, rainy days. The weather is messing with my senses, and it is easy to believe that it is Christmas time.

We went to Stratford-upon-Avon yesterday with the whole group. We arrived, had 30 minutes to find and eat lunch, and then make our way to the theatre. We saw a great production of The Comedy of Errors. That is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays anyway, but the actors, costumes, music, and especially the physical comedy made the whole production fantastic. By some luck, I ended up getting a front row ticket. It was really neat being able to see all of the actors' facial expressions, but we could also see their sweat and their spit, which wasn't as pleasant. After the show, we were hurried back onto our bus to return to Oxford. During our ride home, I promptly got motion sickness (crazy winding roads and hills) and closed my eyes and listened to music to try to make it subside. I really wish we could have spent more time there. I think next Saturday me and a couple of others are going to go there for a day trip. I would really like to see Shakespeare's grave and home.

Today I leave for Germany and I have the pre-travel jitters. I've double checked that I packed my passport and have my flight comfirmation numbers. I know which terminal I need to be at, and I know which bus I need to get on at Oxford to take me directly to the airport, and I know I will have someone waiting for me on the other end, but I am still nervous, or maybe anxious is a better word. Tomorrow, Anja is taking me to Berlin! I can't believe it.

This program is winding down and I have less than 2 weeks to go, in a way I am happy because I want to see everyone from home. But I am also sad because I feel like there are still so many things that I haven't seen and because going home means starting my senior year of college and going back to work. time flies. really.

one more thing for you fantasy lovers: read The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. It is fantastic.
I will write again when I'm safely back in Oxford on Sunday.
