this and that

forgive me Sus, I stole most of this from the whopping email I sent to you

So the weather here can't make up its mind. First, it was freezing cold and I had to go out and buy a sweatshirt. Now, it is really hot and I had to go buy sleeveless shirts. The weather swings are just as bad as Louisiana, but fortunately not nearly as hot. On warm days, shady spots under trees are the perfect temperature.

So, last night I went to an Evensong at Christ Church with Amy, which is basically a church service that is almost all in song. It was really amazing. The choir actually sung several Psalms. It was so incredible to hear all of it in an old British cathedral with staind glass that is hundreds of years old. The setup is really weird though, they don't have seats facing the front, instead there are benches on each side, and the both face the center, kind of like a basketball court, only not as big. Amy said that her professor said that Evensong finishes with plenty of time for us to make it back to dinner, well he was wrong. We had to rush back like power walking grandmothers and we made it just in time!

Today I had class again. Our common lecture was by this crazy old British Oxford professor. He was really excited about the engineer that he was speaking about, and told us the history like a good story teller. He actually held my attention for the whole hour.

At 12:00 today, everyone on campus had a moment of silence for the victims of the London bombings. We stepped outside, bowed our heads, and at that moment the St. Johns bells tolled 12 times. Then we could hear the news talking about it from the tv in the pub. It was incredibly moving.

So, I booked my flight for Germany just a little while ago. I am so excited. The flight is only an hour long, but transportation to the airport is a lot longer. I have to take a 1 hour train from Oxford to London, then another 1 hour train from Kings Cross to Gatwick airport. Fortunately, that is the one we flew into, so I know exactly how to get there. I fly in late Thursday night, and am there until 4:00 on Sunday. I am going to buy and eat so much chocolate, it will be fabulous. I am so glad that there will be a friendly face there to meet me on the other end!

We are going to London on Saturday and I am going to try to get a standby ticket to see Phantom of the Opera. I really hope that I can. If not, I am going to explore the inside of Westminster Abbey and St. Pauls with everyone else, or try to get tickets to another show. Guys and Dolls would be really cool to see too, especially since Ewan McGregor is starring in it. =D

Tomorrow night Harry Potter comes out. I can hardly wait! Do you realize that I can buy my copy of the book 6 hours before all of you back home? mwahaha.
