memphis in may
So I've been in Memphis since Thursday night. We are leaving in the morning for the 6 hour drive back home. These past few days have been wild.
Thursday night we went to the Memphis in May BBQ festival. This thing is huge, and crazy. It is like Mardi Gras meets night clubs. All these different groups come from all over the world and set up these booths, which are really minature clubs. You have to have wrist bands to get into certain ones, and they have bouncers guarding the doors... and there are over 200 of these mini night clubs. It was a blast though, free drinks and everyone is trying to get you smashed. lots of dancing and music, and of course barbeque. favorite drinks of the evening: margaritas and pink pannie pulldown shots. after the long night of fun, we piled onto a bus to go from downtown back to our cars, and these 2 girls broke out in a huge cat fight. lots of swinging and screaming. fortunately the bouncer guy was riding and broke it up. all the drunk guys were excited.
Friday Mark and I went to Graceland for the first time. We toured Elvis's mansion, his car collection, airplanes, and memorabilia. We were on the tour with these 7 old ladies that loved Elvis and they kept dancing around and singing his songs. I have some pictures, but they will have to wait until I get home. That night we went back to the festival. Not as bad this time, I couldn't party much because of my stupid tendenitis knee. When it ended we had to walk up Beale St. to catch the trolley to our car. We stayed and had a drink at a bar before going back.
Today we just layed around and watched movies, nursing our stomachs and head from the nights of partying. ate at Joe's Crab Shack and tcby. =) now i am about to go hit mark for making fun of me, and get some rest so i can drive tomorrow.
