saying goodbye

May 09, 2005 13:35

so the first weekend of summer has already come and gone. and over the course of the last 4 days I have said goodbye to many.

friday was Chad's memorial service, it was the saddest thing i have ever been to. there was a news article written up about it that did it some justice. rowingintherain posted the article. i don't know if it was because i wasn't as close to him as the others, or maybe because i just needed one last cry, but the memorial service brought me some closure. time will heal. i know for the others it will take much longer.

i went to Centenary's graduation yesterday to see Anja graduate. i went to lunch afterward with her and her dad at olive street bistro. her dad is so cute, he only speaks a little bit of English, and I only speak a little bit of German, but with Anja as a translator we all had a great conversation. that was the last time i will see Anja, she flew back to Germany Saturday morning. I may try to plan a short weekend to Germany while I am in England though. It is weird seeing a good friend of three years leave America forever.

mother's day was good. no goodbyes there. i had a big lunch with my grandparents, great grandmother, mom, sisters, aunt, and cousins. It was good to see Chase, though he seemed kind of moody. Shannon kept everyone in line, and the desserts were outstanding.

today was the last day i will see my fellow co-worker james. he got a new job in Houston, and I am glad for him, even though is one of my favorite people that I work with. hopefully we will still keep in touch through Livejournal and IM.

i am going to memphis with Mark this weekend to attend a bbq festival that his friend participates in. it will be some much needed fun and relaxation that i haven't had time to enjoy yet. i told my boss that i wouldn't be here thursday or friday and she grimaced. i reassured her and told her that everything would get done, i just really need a couple of days off. fortunately she has been going out of her way lately to keep me happy, so it all ended without confrontation and i will be going.

15 more minutes of work to go.

mark, anja, memphis, centenary, travel, family, sad
