Also, I've started working on my list of the top 100 literary classics again. Ever since I discovered the Stanza app for my iPhone (which essentially turns my phone into a Kindle) and all the free, out of copyright classics that I can download and read on it anytime I want, I've started making some headway into my list.
Recently completed:
31. Dracula by Bram Stoker
A great classic. Though it dragged at times and I found myself re-reading some of Van Helsing's dialect, I really enjoyed this creepy classic. A fun read indeed!
AND
32. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne
While this book had some great page-turning moments and adventures, including being trapped under the ice, attack of the savages and attack of the cuddle fish, it was weighed down by pages and pages of unnecessary listings of fish and underwater animal classifications and history lessons. I know Jules Verne was a visionary of his time, and I can appreciate that. All the same, I think an abridged version of this book would make for much better reading.
And now I'm working on another Jules Verne... Around the World in 80 Days which is already so much more fun and flowing than 20,000 Leagues.
