strange fascination

this weekend was one of the best spent in a long time. mark and i went to new orleans friday. we drove in the rain and it turned the 5 hour trip into a 6 1/2 hour one. but it was worth it. friday night we went to the david bowie concert at the saenger. he was a riot he kept the crowd entertained by telling jokes and interacting. he played a bunch of new stuff, but also did changes, rebel rebel, fame, fashion, suffragett city, ziggy stardust, man who sold the world, modern love, china girl (in chinese for the first stanza), all the yound dudes, heroes and my personal favorite - under pressure. he played from 9:15 to 12:00! the opening band was called polyphonic spree. there were basically about 26 british kids with a choir and instruments singing about love and sunshine and jumping around, never a dull moment. check out the theatre.

we also did the whole touristy thing. the aquarium, the french market, and bourbon street. mark had a handgrenade at 2:00 in the afternoon.

after that i rammed mark's car into a concrete wall in a parking garage (no scratches!) then we drove to my aunt's. this morning, i had a sharp pain run up my back while blow drying my hair that literally took me to the ground. still haven't recovered. we figured it was a disk problem - seems to run in the family.

we drove back. i had a suprising phone call. i called everyone else. washed my bowie shirt and got some sonic. now onto the finals thing. after wednesday, i'm a free woman.
