When I encountered Walid Raad’s The Atlas Group Archive work at the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin, I was ecstatic. Here was a Borgesian world of seeming triviality, cataloged, and displayed as something beautiful; as something which depended upon violence and war but which instead moved the emphasis away from such violence.
