That's it.  Tomorrow I am either buying the book North and South from Amazon or demanding that my friend send it IMMEDIATELY. Which decision I reached after watching several music videos of the movie, which in case any of you have magically missed my occasional rants about not being able to find the book in any library in miles and wanting to read the book before the movie, I have not seen. (which I'm sure made a lot of sense) But I can't stand it anymore. I would have ordered it long ago but I'm really busy and kept wanting to find it in a library. But all the GORGEOUS icons, banners, ravings, communities, etc. that I have seen all over lj have finally gotten to me, and those music videos were the last straw. I MUST  watch this movie. Preferably as soon as possible. See one of the several movies that overcame my resolve: this is a high quality and quite lovely one that's a mixture of Pride adn Prejudice and North and South, set to Collide by Howie Day.

Thornton. Thornton. I want Thornton.  You know, I was thinking-with Colin Firth, Matthew MacFadyen, Gerard Butler, and Richard Armitage in their various famous and defining roles as the Darcys and Phantoms of this world, what is there left? What combination of character/actor could expand the role of passionate, romantic, initially off-putting hero any farther? I almost feel sorry for any actor trying to follow in their footsteps. But oh the glory for us women! Of course the only drawback is that it makes us want/expect to meet men like that and have passionate restraint-rising to a climax like that in our lives. But oh well. Small price to pay. :D
