i'm still alive.
i've been gallavanting around, going to busch gardens and visiting Wise and spending entire days in bed watching Grey's Anatomy DVDs.
but i've also been applying for jobs and negotiating with those people. I had a really promising call today from one paper, but I don't want to get my hopes up just yet.
Apparently half of Wise thought I had a job; somehow the Thompsons got confused and thought that they'd heard I was employed, so I had to explain otherwise. But I told them it was a good rumor to start.
Unless something happens in the meantime, i.e. one of these papers says 'woot, we love you, come stay,' i'm coming home after June 15 indefinitely until one of these papers utters the aforementioned phrase.
man, i really wish the chick who got disqualified from the spelling bee last night and reinstated had won the thing. that would've been money. but it was still a pretty good bee. I think if i had realized as a child that pretending to write the word on your arm is totally legit, i would've done a lot better. I thought you had to just go for it. I can't imagine asking anyone at Wise Primary what the etymology of the word was. Half the school would have been like, "the what?" But I digress.
I'm reading "On the Road" by Kerouac finally. I'm taking way too long reading it, but I love the prose and it does kinda give me the itch to do the great american road trip. Who's up for it?
