You may have noticed my great dismay over the upcoming Dark Is Rising movie. You might have thought, "This girl sure is pedantic" and rightly so. Nevertheless! Witness the email I received last night from my sister.

OK, I just have to let you know. I was watching the Simpsons, and there was an advertisement for a movie. And I said "What movie is that?" And then the title of the movie came on. And it was "The Seeker." engelhardtlm1 says the disbelief on my face was the best part. Or worst part. Because I couldn't even recognize what it was!!!

It's not just me! It's not just me! Bonus: if you follow the link up there over the "my", the number of comments on the MTV blog post has swelled to twenty-four, and probably twenty-three of them are somewhere between bewilderment and outrage. I'm beyond that. It seems to have progressed so far from the actual story that I can now treat it as some completely different, amusingly bad blockbuster.

One more thing, before I stop posting about the movie and start waiting for it to inevitably tank with both critics and audience. The Signs are no longer particularly Sign-shaped. Honestly, Powers That Be. If you're that uninterested in the source material, write cheap knock-offs like the rest of us. Don't even attempt a high-budget fan fiction.
