I went to see Lady in the Water last night in the cheapies. I love the late showings; you come out at midnight, it's dark and empty, drive home with your head full of the movie and go to bed still watching it behind your eyelids. Lady was better than I expected, after the reviews. I thought it was extremely competent, and as usual Shyamalan set up some unbelievably beautiful camera shots. I think that everything bad about the movie was intentional--the result of conscious decisions rather than accident or misstep, and that makes a difference.
Today I had the unusual experience of seeing what my name would look like on the cover of a book--because it turns out my library has a copy of the novel by the acclaimed author who shares my name. I debated checking it out, realized it actually had something major in common with my current project, and reluctantly put it down until I get farther along.
Looks pretty good, by the way.
