(no subject)
Ok, I'm sure you're all getting tired of the house posts LOL, but I just Had to tell you about the AMAZING cleaning power of OXICLEAN!
yessiree! that's right.
Ok, for real now. I got the bright idea after watching E sand for a full day to try and clean that floor with oxiclean. It was COVERED in old tar. I'd scraped as much tar paper off as I could (from the backing we think of the old bakalite tiles) but the whole thing was still criss crossed in tar.
As seen here:
THEN I cleaned it. Oh the muck, urgh, it was gross. I was so disturbed with the much on my hands I actually rinsed them out in the toilet. Not a clean toilet either. Still cleaner than my hands!
So now that I've had the fan on the floor for a couple of hours, here's what's come up.
Note the square in the upper right corner of both pictures. That's a floor joist I believe.
Same one in both pics. Big difference in floor!
Pretty huh? And all that was hidden underneath some hideous tile. Some people have NO taste.
So upon reading some books today at the libary, all of them agree that for old hardwoods, cleaning them at the end with a mix of vinegar and parrafin wax with clean and protect them until we can finish them. (after payday on next Tues)
