Whee! This writing thing, it's kinda fun. :P Two Dark Knight drabbles because, you know. That movie made my brain explode in at least six awesome ways.

Title: Spring
Rating: Eh. PG?
Characters/Pairings: Gordon and his parents.
Summary: Gordon’s mother, pale and thin and startlingly loyal, will not pack her bags. “One more spring,” she says.

Aww! Thank you!

But her son, her son stays. Next spring, he knows, will be beautiful.

Oh, cripes. Gordon. I can totally see that, too. The whole thing really just...man, that's canon for me from now on.

cops and robbers, pirates, and 'trial' once, because she insisted

Aww, Rachel. Whole thing was adorable and bittersweet as heck.

Thank you!

He just keeps going. It's a little crazy, but a lot endearing. And he must have a reason! I'm glad you like the one I came up with, haha. :]

Thanks again! I'm really glad you liked them. :]

It's insane. God, do I love characters like that, who go through hell and, you know, just keep going. He's brilliant. The kind of upraising he must've had...

Thanks for writing them!

He faked his own death and that was THE LEAST OF HIS PROBLEMS. You know you've got a stubborn one, at that point. :P

Yeah, his childhood must have been...I don't even know. This is one tiny bit of what I think, this drabble, but obviously Gotham has meant a LOT to him for a very long time. I wonder how he'll raise his kids? To stick it out in Gotham or to do better somewhere else? I mean, do you think he stays because he feels he has to, or because he actually wants to? Because I think that would change how he raised his own kids.

Okay. I'm going to stop rambling now. :P

Hee! Fair point. Gosh, Gordon and his sense of duty are legendary.

I think he has to love Gotham. I mean, he's got a sense of responsibility for it because of that, but he strikes me (randomly enough) as the kind of old fashioned guy who'd definitely not put his family in danger unless it was for a very good reason. And having them live in Gotham, in that apartment (seriously; as Commissioner, he'd better get the biggest raise ever and maybe move them into a place with a freakin' doorman), and I think he loves Gotham enough for it to be a Very Good Reason. God, I'm honestly kind of surprised he was even willing to get married, and then have kids at all!

(PS, Have you read any Terry Pratchett beyond Good Omens? Because he's got a character that could be the spiritual brother of Gordon in some respects).

Yeah, the responsibility comes FROM the love. It could go either way, but I think you're right. If it was just a kind of, "Okay, you win, I'm going to dedicate myself to this city" kind of a thing, it wouldn't be so ridiculously unconditional.

but he strikes me (randomly enough) as the kind of old fashioned guy

I do think he's very old-fashioned. He plays by the rules so much, and he has this traditional little family, and it's only for Gotham that he would hurt either of those things -- the rules, or his family. Because let's face it, getting so involved that you have to play dead to protect your family? It helps them in the long run, but it HURTS them so very much. I'm guessing Gotham is #1 on his priorities list. :P Though getting married at all -- he must love her crazy amounts.

Exactly! That scene where they come by to tell his wife he's been killed? Jesus. That poor woman. And when he shows up again...well, I'm sure she was happy but I honestly think she would've given him hell for it after.

Honestly I think the decision to propose must have been quite the angst-fest. "OMG I love her. And if I marry her, she'll be in danger. If she wants to leave Gotham, I'll have to stay. If we have kids, they'll GROW UP HERE. IN GOTHAM. Um. Um. Um. OMG."

Well, now I want to read that fic ;) And am totally picturing Gary Oldman doing that internal monologue. It's kind of hilarious.

Hm. I haven't read any Terry Pratchett with a character like that I don't THINK. I've read a couple of them, but none like that. And wow, I love Terry Pratchett. Just a ( ... )
