Well, there's a reason I haven't posted before now. We've been unexpectedly working our butts off up at Walgreens. In spite of the fact that I was told we wouldn't have overtime, we've been working mandatory overtime every day of the week. On Thursday, we stayed until an unprecedented 9:00am! This was because they had shut down the line for nearly 4 hours for maintenance, because they apparently couldn't wait until our mandatory "voluntary time off" day. I guess I shouldn't complain since it means I'll be making more money from last week than Walgreens intended, but my health pretty much tanked. Been having stomach problems all week, and still don't feel quite right, and my feet were horribly busted up by shoes that didn't fit. I got a new pair this weekend, so that's one less thing to worry about. I also found a new dentist, and need to make an appointment now that I have my insurance card. I'm dreading what they will tell me. I had some stuff I wanted to do this weekend, but ended up sleeping away the majority of my time off. Yeah, that's how bad last week was.
I did, however, manage to see Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time film by Disney, and I highly recommend it. I also made an impromptu decision to go a few towns over to the Freedom Weekend Aloft festival and watch The Beatles live in concert. Actually, it was the band
1964, billed as the most accurate Beatles tribute in the world. They use only period clothing and instruments, and have studied the Beatles for over 20 years, mastering their mannerisms and on-stage play off each other while keeping things improv-fresh. Now, I'm only a casual fan of The Beatles; my brother was a fanatic growing up, so I heard most of the tracks and seen most of the films periphially because of him. But seeing them perform live was something else. Their songs sound so much better live. Or perhaps so much is lost in the early recording techniques the original Fab Four were forced to use? It's hard to say which is which, but regardless, if you have an opportunity to see Gary Grimes and company, I suggest you take it.
Umm, what else? It's been storming here a lot lately. I haven't been able to wash my car, though it needs it desperately. The rain will help, but a good washing and waxing would help it more. It needs to be repainted anyways, so I'm not too concerned about it, but thanks to the festival, I ended up spending a bit more this weekend than I originally intended. And it looks like Memorial Day is largely a washout, but I didn't have any plans for the day anyways; I work tonight. Haha, it just thundered.
Oh yeah, X-Box 360...I love it. It comes with a free last FM account when you go gold. You can probably guess what I've been listening to, although this will help when I start looking for "similar artists" or want to hear stuff from artists I haven't had much exposure to.
A snapshot of my set in Second Life on Sunday. I think it will dynamically change as I play more music, but I'm not sure. If it does, I'll throw it up in my profile here.
In other news, I wrote a review for the celebrated video game
