Happy Holi-daze
The holidays - like everything else this year - completely snuck up on us. We've spent the last month or so going, "YAY, Grandparents will be here soon to help with baby stuff!" and in the last fortnight realized, "Oh shit, we're seeing the other family, too." Aaaand, buy gifts/wrap them/distribute/etc. Thank G-d for the internet (with a special prayer for Amazon). Aside from baby stuff, I think we only bought one gift in a store (it was for me, so I didn't even bother wrapping it), and that includes the Target gift card we ordered for my grandmother.
Anyhow. Once again, we're doing one night of Christmas with my family - which ought to be nice and awkward - with the in-laws coming in for the weekend to share in the experience. (We're looking forward to next year, when we can hand over the baby and go hide in a corner.) In-laws are arriving sometime today and staying (AT A HOTEL) through Monday. This is actually a very good thing. I have off work, and there is a literal metric fuck-ton of baby gear taking up the living room. And also I have a pot rack that needs to be hung up.
So much has been going on. Baby stuff will be relegated to a later post; the rest can be summed up thusly:
We can has iPhones!! We caved and got 2 of the 16GB 4S models. Since we are cheapskates (I didn't even have text messaging on my last phone), this was a huuuuge leap for us. Mostly we got them because of the cameras, but my husband has spent most of the last two weeks of his vacation glued to the couch playing Infinity Blade and harassing Siri. I spent my days at work sneaking looks at Facebook & LJ (which is why I've missed out on the whole Comment-gate thing; I use the LJ app mostly and it looks exactly the same). I still use my 32GB iTouch for podcast/audiobook/music purposes, mostly so I do not crash the car while trying to key in a passcode so I can pause something. And also, it has all my Angry Birds progress.
