Short Story Challenge for wonderous_stuff
The most recent challange at wonderous_stuff was to tell a short story with icons. We had the option of writing our own story or recasting/retelling a story, and I chose to retell Disney's Sleeping Beauty, one of my favourite fairy tales. We were given 6 elements of the story and had to chose 4 technical and 4 interpretive themes to add to the story. I relied mostly on symbols and colours to do this. 01. Hero | Lelouch Lamperouge, Code Geass.
02. Love Interest | C.C., Code Geass. Sleeping Beauty is a good vs. evil story so let's ignore the fact that C.C. and Lelouch are both very, very morally ambiguous characters (lol). Lelouch/C.C. is one of my favourite pairings hence why they were cast.
03. Villain Cain, Count Cain. Purple is one of Maleficent's colours.
04. Conflict | Code Geass.
05. Climax | Kimi ni Todoke. I deviated from using Code Geass images here because this series has like three kiss scenes and I suck at cropping kiss scenes. Also, is this image not perfect or what!?
06. Resolution | Code Geass. This icon was inspired by those Disney story book endings (example).
07. Close Crop | Suzaku Kururugi, Code Geass. This scene that is absolutely impossibly hard to icon but that I love so much. Green is also another one of Maleficent's colours.
08. Color Wash | Jack, Pandora Hearts. This icon is supposed to show the colours of the Aurora Borealis
09. Dialogue | Hinoto, X/1999. Once Upon A Dream. The connection to Hinoto is that she is a dreamseer.
10. Two Shot | Sailor Moon. Roses should be explanation enough?
11. Dark is Bad | Seishirou, X/1999. My sad attempt at "dark" colouring. Lol it's sort of grungy though?
12. Light is Good | Sailor Venus, Sailor Moon. Obvious theme, also golden hair.
13. Myths & Legends | Kantarou, Tactics. This icon is red to symbolize "lips that shame the red rose". And myths and legends sort of tie into Sleeping Beauty? In any case, Kantarou is a folkorist and a youkai hunter, so that's how he ties into the theme.
14. Setting | Kiki's Delivery Service.

15. Challenge 1 - Red | ARIA. Bad icon is bad. This is the week where I was working on the challenge for wonderous_stuff, resulting in me not caring all that much. PLUS I HATE MAKING RED ICONS.
16. Challenge 2 - Purple | Otome Youkai Zakuro
17. Challenge 2 - Bonus: Out of the Box | Ueda Ryo Artwork. My colouring is pretty set in stone, so I decided to focus on composition and text work a lot for this icon.
18. Challenge 3 - Yellow | Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Yellow icons are hit or miss for me and so this challenge took the longest for me.
19. Alternate | Sailor Moon. This was the initial icon for yellow. I had a very hard time choosing between the two.

21. Challenge 4 - Blue | Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Inspired by kanrinin because she is the best at typography and loves KHR.

24. Challenge 5 - Bonus: Close Crop | Code Geass. This is supposed to form a pair with the green Suzaku icon. Close crop + text seemed like the logical choice for me.
