Woke up this morning to a very happy, slightly feverish, sniffly child. I knew something was up last night because she kept talking in her sleep. She'd say things like, "Nonnie's got the turkey," and "Give ME the hammer," and (the best one, I think) "I'M going to hold Jay's hand, it's MY hand!" Now she's crawling around on the floor playing with a giant stuffed shark that Chris won her at the fair. She keeps threatening him. "If you don't stop growling at that pig, you're going in time-out!" "Shark! I see you smiling. Don't you sass me! I'm gonna give you a spankin!" Whack, whack, whack. (She loves to spank her toys, even though she never gets spanked herself. I have no idea why she's so violent with them. It's not my fault, really.) The best one so far, though, was directed to the shark and her sister, the pig. "Shark! You better stop eating your sister! You're just jealous." (turns to me) "I think this is sibling ribaldry."
