I will do my best to go around and catch up with the flist, I actually enjoy reading the now traditional end of year memeage, but I have two seasons of Foyle's War waiting for me and I'm very excited about that. I was going to do this tomorrow and it sort of bothers my OCD that it's not the last day of the year yet, but oh well... screw it! I'm probably going to do a more picture-heavy one by then anyway.
Stolen from various people...
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Dipped my toes in the Pacific Ocean; became an aunt; saw a Hollywood movie premiere; had Indian food.; Shot a gun, shotguns included.
2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I'd have to check last year's entry to make sure, but I don't think I made any. I don't plan on making any this year, but just in case some of you won't be around by tomorrow, The Cheek Monster has a message for you:
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
See that blob of adorable fatty tissue with eyes up there? My sister-in-law pushed that out with great difficulty.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
US doesn't count if you lived there, rather than visit, but... Texas, y'all! Don't act like it's not its own country...
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
I'm not involved in some form of training or other anymore so I'd BETTER have more money to travel. Also? I should be nicer to people.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
As always, I make kind of a big deal out of my birthday. This year it was my California trip, LA Speed Racer Premiere, day at the beach in San Diego, lovely, lovely Santa Barbara, etc. Plus, July 7th, my first day on the new job.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Aforementioned job which is rock solid for the next two years come what may and cooking half-decent Indian food. It's not restaurant quality or anything, but it's edible.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not traveling more in general, and particularly while I was on the West Coast.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new laptop and my plane tickets to Poland for next month :)
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My new boss for being supportive and patient and always helpful.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
I think I'm too big of a cynic to react that way to anybody anymore.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Plane tickets, and a surprising amount on winter clothes of which I had NONE when I left Cali.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My shooting range classes, every single one of them. And POLAND! And Prague, but mostly Poland. I also hope to add Spain and Malta and maybe Croatia and Paris to the list later in the year.
16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2008?
Unfortunately... "I kissed a girl" by Katy Perry. Fortunately, "Long Road to Ruin" by The Foo Fighters

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not really.
26. What was the best book you read?
Guns, Germs and Steel and How The Scots Invented the Modern World and Everything in It ... and I guess Umberto Eco's History of Ugliness.

29. What did you want and not get?
I don't make plans, so it's hard to disappoint me.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I don't think I do movies anymore, but thanks to Tiff, I did get to see our very own 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days and even though I laughed in inappropriate moments just beacause of my memories from Communism, it was still excellent.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
25. Walked on the beach, took pretty pictures of beautiful San Diego and embarked on my California Birthday Trip to even more beautiful Santa Barbara.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I don't know... I'm kinda grateful for what I have I guess.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
My what?
34. What kept you sane?
My laptop and the friends who live in it. :) California was kind of a tough experience at first because I hated everyone at work and (almost) everyone at school, but it was so gorgeous, it was well worth it.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

My grandma. I miss the US every day.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Might be shallow, but it's true... None.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
.Happiness is a warm gun
(Bang Bang Shoot Shoot)
Happiness is a warm gun, momma
(Bang Bang Shoot Shoot)
When I hold you in my arms
(Ooooooooohhh, oh yeah!)
And when I feel my finger on your trigger
I know nobody can do me no harm
Because happiness is a warm gun, momma
