Well, we finally moved into our new flat last night. After spending AN HOUR AND A HALF at the bank trying to get a banker's draft. I won't go into the details here, I will just say that British people obviously have a much higher tolerance for CRAP than the Irish do. Bloody Hell.
Anyway, apart from discovering that the sofa wasn't staying with the flat (Oh, noes!) all went well last night.
Lucid bought a bottle of dodgy cheap wine from the local shop, and we drank it out of our camping mugs, ate some Indian takeaway and tried to get to grips with Starship Catan.
Later, we found some sheets and 'the furry' (a big grey furry throw that I bought for Lucid for our 4th anniversary and which has been a bedding staple ever since) and used the 'red scatter cushions, two' as pillows, and had a nice night's sleep in our new gaff.
I couldn't quite shake the feeling last night that we were staying in a hotel - it was all so clean and empty and warm; and it was such a luxury to know, on waking in the night, that I could just get up and go to the bathroom without having to get dressed quietly in the dark, sneak out, and then walk down the hall.
Of course, today, now that all the moving/organising adrenalin is used up, my brain has gone on strike. I'm sleepy and groggy, and barely functioning. I hope I don't get days like this next week - there'll be a gap between my colleague here leaving and his replacement arriving where I have to cover for the emea department, and I'm a little nervous about it...
Anyway, I'm going to go now and have a can of Coke, and soon have some sushi for lunch, and maybe by the afternoon I'll be a bit more human again.
