I've been meaning to post for a while. And seeing as how I have some free time in which I am not napping and the burgeoning realization of just how much studying I have to do this weekend (have a midterm for a class for which I haven't done a spot of reading)--shoot my lazy ass now), I would like to further procrastinate and wade into an even deeper, murkier level of crappola by posting a journal entry.
First of all, this past weekend.
Was awesome.
I drove up to see Morgan and Taylor and started making movie and dinner plans for the evening. (Note to self: brother and cousin are now college students and will grub money off me. Do not offer to use my credit card to pay for IMAX movie tickets over the phone.)
Here are some things that happened:
--Morgan and I hung out in his room for 5 1/2 hours. Nice weather. Could have gone kite-flying. Instead? Watched an in-progress DBZ abridged series on Youtube and laughed our asses off. Also watched an hour of Kevin Smith's Threevening. Laughed our asses off then as well. The dudes nextdoor to Morgan started a hall dance party. They were the only two who danced while the rest of us stood and watched, refusing to join in their idiocy. Some freshman dude kept showing off in front of me, cute but irritating. Dude across the hall thought it would be funny to go up and down the hall spraying people's doors with huge amounts of Febreze. Apparently he does this often. It wasn't funny. It seeped under (even through, I swear to God!) the door and into Morgan's room and got in my mouth and it was gross. Worked on extra credit chemistry problems. Morgan looked over my first chemistry test and tsked at how simple it was. He preferred to look at it than to read my latest short story. Turd. Taylor came by. Also got eau de Febreze in his mouth. During impromptu hall dance party, next door guy's roommate wakes up at 2 or 3PM and walks off to shower in nothing but a towel around his waste. Had dreads. Dirty blonde ones. Hella tall. Wanted to see him walk back, but didn't care enough to stand around waiting for him. Also, cute but irritating freshman flirty dude decided it would be funny to come by with a mock-air cannon sort of whatever thing and puff air into my face. Kinda cute, but kinda stupid, so therefore was not so cute. Morgan mimicking DBZ-abridged stuff: "Well, that's a pity RAAAAAAAUUUURRGGHH!!!" and "Neeerrrrrrrrrrd" and "DODGE!!" (Strangely, all lines from Piccolo.)
--Dinner out at Mayan Cafe, which was good. Got to see Rick and Jean. I planned to pay for my share, but they insisted that they pay. Which was not what I wanted them to do at all because then I feel like it makes it look as if we only wanted to go out to dinner with them because they would pay. Grar. Will need to begin employing Grandpa H's pay-before-they-know-it stealth techniques.
--Went to see Watchmen. Left dinner over an hour before movie time. Went to Heini Brothers' Coffee. Then left for theatre. Somehow Morgan put wrong theatre into GPS, and we're driving along, getting caught behind a train and dealing with other traffic crap, and then the GPS says we've arrived at the theatre, and we look, and it's an empty building that used to be a theatre. On right. So I'm like, "Crap!" and Morgan's like "I'm sorry!" Put in correct theatre name and drive off to make it to showing that we're now going to be kinda late for. But it wasn't a big deal, and we only missed previews (*sniff*) and the beginning five minutes of the film.
--Enjoy the movie but want to hit assholes in theatre who can't get over the whole "it's a penis" deal. Seriously, if women's breasts and butts are gonna be all over the movies, then I see no problem in a dick getting some screen-time.
--Get back to Rick and Jean's hell late (movie was at 9:50PM). Go to bed.
--Daylight savings time. Hour forward. Gr. (I made a funny, though: "Uuugh, I hate daylight saving's time. I hate going forward an hour. Losing that hour of my life, and I'll never get it back. ... Until the next daylight saving's time...")
--Brunch with Morgan and his friends at Toast the next afternoon. Was nice. Morgan paid for me as way to pay me back for movie ticket. Taylor still owes me ten bucks. Hurm...
--Drove back to campus and had a half hour to get ready to go to seminar professor's house for dinner/make up class session. I arrive first, have to cut bread. Dinner was kind of awkward. Not bad, but not, "Man, I want to do this every night for the rest of my life." Or this semester. Was nice, though, and we had Tristram Shandy Stew, so that's nice.
--When other people started arriving and seminar prof. told us to take seats in the living room, I sat down, accidentally upon my keys. I was kind of bizarrely nervous about being in a prof.'s house and had even kind of dressed up for it and no one else really had, and I felt kind of lame, so didn't move keys. Figured wouldn't be sitting there very long, so it wouldn't matter. Hear car alarm going off outside. Don't pay much attention because saw kids out playing soccer in neighbor's yard. Maybe ball hit a car or something. Don't really care. Then seminar prof. comes in and tells me it's my car. "Oh!" I say and start to get up. Off my keys. And then the car alarm stops. I was sitting on my car alarm button. No one notices my humiliating moment, and I just shrug and say, "It stopped! Guess it's okay." Then grabbed keys and shoved them into purse. Soooo embarrassing.
--Afterward take Shoko to Wal-Mart. Satsu was going to go, too, but was in shower when I came by, so couldn't. Shoko takes all of fifteen minutes at Wal-Mart. We bump into Dr. Weston there with his daughter. Talk with him, which was nice. On drive back, there's a dead cat in the road, and I try to swerve to the right to avoid it (dangerous to swerve left while going up a hill--can't see anyone coming). Swerve too much/just right and run over cat. Shoko screamed. Felt bad, but laughed my ass off anyway.
--Sunday night, Monday, and Tuesday was in big funk over having to say goodbye to Morgan. My awesome plan to go see him was awesome while it lasted, but the aftereffects kept me from the gym for two days. Weird 60-hour depression or something. Not sure if I want to do that kind of trip again any time soon. For a part of me I should. For another part I shouldn't. Kind of sucks. Nothing better than hanging with my bros, though.
And so it's now Friday, and I'm working on planning out something of a schedule for the weekend. Shoko and I are hanging out tonight in part to spend time studying and in large/equal part to plan our trip to Chicago and start making reservations. Tomorrow afternoon I hope/plan to go see Watchmen again, this time with a couple friends I haven't seen in ages, so that will be nice. Saturday night I think Chris and I will go see Dracula in Space because whether it's done seriously or comically, I'm sure to find plenty to lmao about. And, uh, the rest of the time I will be (hopefully!) studying for my midterm on Monday in that class for which I have done .01% of the reading. Uuuuggh.
