adiml and update

SO, since my last entry I have both moved into that single, and gotten that internship! :D Since then I have also discovered bat bugs in my new room. ...Yeah. Dealing with them has been a huge pain in the butt, but I've been counting my blessings that they were bat bugs and not bedbugs. Since then, spring break has also started. I began my spring break by flying down to Texas with my family to celebrate my great-grandmother's 100th birthday. This is the great-grandmother who was carjacked a year or two ago? Don't know if I mentioned that. This is also the great-grandmother who still lives on her own and still drives. It was a nice weekend and it was nice to see family, but it was seriously exhausting, especially the trip home. Our flight out of Houston was delayed two hours and a half hours due to bad weather in Philadelphia, so we didn't make it home until 12:15 last night. Very, very exhausting.

I'll probably have pictures and such from the trip up in a few days.

Anyway, back to the single, the day after I moved in to it I did an ADIML documenting the process of arranging everything and really making it mine, because I was excited about it all. This may not be the most interesting of days to read, but it's significant to me, because it marks the beginning of something new and better. :D

Wakey wakey for my 10 am class. Normally I'd get up earlier, but it was a late, exhausting night getting all settled in.

Peek out the window and see this. We are not amused.

Of course, my 10 am isn't cancelled (as much as I enjoy that class, I could use a bit more sleep) and I have this email from facilities as if to add insult to injury.

Argh, and I have another one of these! Stupid spam comments! Does anyone else get a lot of these?

Ah well, we must press on, bedhead and all.

I don't have tons of time to dawdle and take pictures, so here's the after shot once I've finished my morning routine.

At least campus looks nice today.

Good morning, student center.

I have time for breakfast, yay! Breakfast consists of cheerios, lousy dining hall coffee, and peer-reviewing short stories for my fiction writing class.

I forgot to take pictures of my 10 am class. I was preoccupied by the fact that I'd only done about half of the assigned reading, oops. In my defense everything had been crazy the day before with trying to move. So here's a picture of the lobby of the building I had it in.

Since all my stuff is out of my old room, I detach my old room key and get it all ready to drop off at the campus safety office. This is the envelope they gave me my new key in. "Concerns my whereabouts"? What does that even mean?

On the way back from safety and to my house, I snap this in another academic building for a project for my digital photography class.

Back to my room.

I set to work reading all six 10-page short stories and writing up critiques for them, since it's the thing I want to do least, haha.

I'm finally done with that, and now it's time to get to work on my room.

One half of the room.

The other half. I'm really happy with the room - I've seen some tiny singles on this campus, and this is most definitely not one of them.

Straighten up my awkward corner first.

It's a tight squeeze back here!

I suddenly remember the demo for Dragon Age 2 is due to come out today, so I fire up the PlayStation Network, only to discover the demo won't be online until at least 7 pm. BOO.

Now this shelf is all straightened up...

...but then I have to deal with this. D:

I get really hungry and decide it's time for lunch. At this point I discover that my milk is now frozen solid. We had to unplug the fridge to move it the night before, so upon plugging it back in I cranked down the temperature and forgot to put it back, oops.

It's an Easy Mac kinda afternoon.

Start a little reading for the next day while I nom.

What Not to Wear for background noise.

Time check.

And my posters are now finally up, which goes a looooooong way towards making the room feel like my new home.

Another time check.

I'm pooped, but since Tuesdays are my one-class-only days, I make myself work on my photography project.

A little more reading.

And then finally dinner! I eat with a bunch of sisters and Ariana pretends to be gangster.

Here, there's a bit of a gap where I attend a sorority recruitment event (only for the first hour, from 7-8, because I still have a lot to get done).

I get back to my room and the demo is up, yay! I promptly download and install, but I end up not getting to it for a few days, sigh.

In fact, it was just today that I finally had time to actually play through the entire demo. Before I kept getting interrupted. I've played as all three classes, and I'm so torn about which one to choose. I know I want to play as female Hawke, and as awesome as the mage seems in DA2, I was a mage in Dragon Age: Origins, so I wanted to do something different. At first I was thinking rogue, but there are a bunch of rogue party members already, so now I'm leaning toward warrior. Argghhh, the game comes out tomorrow and I'm so excited. :D

Catch up on some emails. This one is to a professor who sent a recommendation to the summer internship that I got. :] I was so busy being stressed about both this internship and getting this new room, and at that point in the day I finally realize how things are falling into place for me, and I get really excited.

I celebrate by MORE READING and unpictured paper writing.

But then it's time for the beautiful-men-filled hour known as White Collar.

Jenn, another sister, comes to watch it with me!

After the show ends, Jenn heads back to her room, and I need to start getting ready for bed so I can stick to my old lady bedtime of around midnight. I know how much the ADIML comm values good oral hygiene.

All showered and sleepy.

I've discovered recently that reruns of Whose Line come on at midnight on weeknights, and have since incorporated them into my bedtime routine.

Happy as a clam and ready for bed!

As a footnote to this day, it was the next night that I first discovered the stupid bat bugs. XD; Ohhh my.

fambly, college, dragon age, adiml
