"When it comes to their educations, students have brilliant ideas and instincts ... it's about changing education to respect and build from young people's genius"
www.hiphopgenius.org http://husslingtonpost.com/ I love the "teaching" that I'm doing right now as a teaching theatre artist and I loved my adult creative expression workshops at KPEP, I loved the after school poetry club that I mentored in and led at K Central High School. I love being a mentor. I also tend to put too much in, take it all home with me all the time. I want to do it better, see what else and what all education can be; to find ways to impact the system that I'm working in, and for. I guess I keep coming back to educating and education because it's what I see as the fundamental system of influence in our society. It is broken. It is crucial. It needs artists, innovators, and people who care a hell of lot about young people. And care to invest in their growth and exploration. I think what I really want to do is help transform the system, but I don't feel like I can do that until I've spent time in it. I'm not saying anything new, particularly. Just meditating.
