you must listen to regina spektor. it's not often that i force my musical tastes on people, but exceptions must be made in the most dire of situations.

i recommend, if you're not one for anti-folk, start out with her new cd, Begin to Hope, to get a feel for her, but not get overwhelmed with some of her experimentation. After she's grown on you,

somehow i heard of regina spektor. probably through that song she did with the strokes, "modern girls & old fashion men", which was a b-side of "reptilia". then later i heard "poor little rich boy" and i thought it was pretty cool. as of lately i've just begun to check out her stuff, and she's amazing. she's got an energy i haven't heard lately in popular music these days. and she's beautiful. like, classic beauty. i'd really like to get soviet kitsch. the cd art is kind of funny, too.
