you must listen to regina spektor. it's not often that i force my musical tastes on people, but exceptions must be made in the most dire of situations.
i recommend, if you're not one for anti-folk, start out with her new cd, Begin to Hope, to get a feel for her, but not get overwhelmed with some of her experimentation. After she's grown on you, which she will, check out Soviet Kitsch. Soviet Kitsch is amazing and if you don't like it, it's probable that you don't have a soul and you lack any amount of substantial musical taste.
