Summertime Blahs
This summer has been dragging for me so far. Each day kind of blends with the next. If it weren't for my computer calendar, I wouldn't know what day it is. Sometimes it feels like I'm lost in the Twilight Zone. The kids are bored out of their skulls, I'm bored, hell, even the cat seems bored. The only one not bored is Rick. On top of his regular job, he's taken an inking job. I honestly don't know how the man does it. He gets up at 3am to go to work, comes home at 4 or 5pm, works on his comic art 'til 12ish and crashes. He then gets up and does it all over again. I guess you could say he's my clock - for now anyway.
School starts back on Aug. 14th. That is my light at the end of the tunnel. I'll be doing a happy dance that morning. School gives the kids and I a purpose - me to relax and decompress, the kids to learn something and annoy their teachers.
I'm quite sure my boredom rut will soon be over though. We're scheduled to leave next Friday for a road trip to Quebec. We'll be gone for two weeks. This ought to be interesting. The last time we drove up there, Jake was 4 and had to pee every frikkin hour, Cory and Megan were arguing non-stop and Rick and I were of course yelling. On the upside, I get to hang out with my sister and her family, and drink some awesome Canadian beer. Oh, and practice my French too. I love speaking in French. Especially when Rick is around. He can't understand much, which is what I go through when his family comes over and they have 'Spanish only' conversations. What can I say? It's my own little private revenge...haha.
