Curry beef and the original beef brisket with yi mien

Small and packed

Queue for the opposite stall which is as famous - tomato based noodles

For this trip, I told B.T to bring me to all his favorite eating places in Hong Kong. I have tried many noodles places but this one takes the prize for being truly local.

It opens only at noon and sells out fast. When we reached, the queue was already long. However, we didn't have to wait long. Turnover is quick. Also, in Hong Kong, in most small shops, people share tables. You do not need to ask, you just sit down. We shared a tiny table with two different groups of people. It was a tight squeeze but all in the name of good food!

Service is fast and serving sizes small. For me, it was sufficient but for B.T, he ordered an extra order of beef brisket. The beef brisket is indeed yummy. It is tender and falls easily apart. There isn't a beefy taste and smell to it and it seems seasoned and cooked just right. The noodles was springy, slightly oily, and matched well with the clear broth. I think noodles in Hong Kong has a different flavor and bite to it. Perhaps it is the ingredients and broth used but the ones sold here are somehow different.

According to B.T, the stall opposite is famous too for its tomato based noodles. The queue is just as long and it is funny seeing people queue for a roadside stall. It's a pity we were too full to stomach another bowl of noodles which most people do. The couple at our table was seen queueing up opposite after they had finished their bowl of Kau Kee noodles!
