The Statue of Liberty!
I started squealing with excitement when I saw the Statue of Liberty from a distance. I was really really excited to be able to see Lady Liberty upclose. Afterall, it is an important monument of the U.S and was gifted by the French.
We took a ferry ride but stayed on the ferry. We didn't opt for the ticket that allowed you to alight and go up the statue because honestly, once you are too close, you can't really see it in full view. Before you board, there is full security checks including body and bag scanning - similar to the airport process. On board the ferry, it was really chilly. I was afraid of getting seasick but the ride is slow and it isn't bumpy so I was fine. As we drew nearer to the statue, I got really excited and started jumping up and down and snapping photos.
It is MAJESTIC!
B.T said that when he was living in NYC and he could see the statue from his apartment. He took it for granted and never bothered to take the ferry. Until he did one day and when he saw it up close, he said he felt a lump in his throat. He felt really proud and patriotic. I can imagine why. There is something really incredible about it. It is like visiting the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, or the Grand Canyon in Vegas or Times Square in NYC.
