MOVING ON
I really liked your essay and agree with it. It really brought home the point that sometimes people sacrifice too much for the good of others without any return for themselves. I've definitely been dealing with the pressures of how to make myself happy along with satisfying all other people who have certain expectations of me. And I love that you pointed out colleges. I have so many friends dealing with that problem right now - the "I'm only applying because my parents want me to" problem.
However, where do you draw the line? Where does it go from trying to make yourself happy to being an arrogant selfish pig? (Sorry, couldn't think of any other way to phrase that). See, that's where I feel people have the most trouble. They WANT to pursue their own happiness, but they're scared of being selfish.
Hopefully one day we'll all find out happy medium.
