My hospital bag is practically packed; I've just got a couple fairly nonessential elements to add. One of them is my iPod, which I plan to add after putting together a birthing playlist. I also have a couple gift cards with which I can buy MP3s ( Read more... )

Are you planning on going drug free or are you going to have an epidural? If the former, you may find music more distracting than anything else or that you simply don't hear it because you're focused elsewhere. Having said that, I was reading Tim Powers' "The Anubis Gates" in between contractions for no.3 so you just never know what you're going to want to do ( ... )

One of may favorite books! You need to tell Tim Powers about that. I met Powers at Philcon 2008 and had him sign the ten books of his that I owned. Very gracious.

It's usually the one I recommend people start with when I'm introducing him to new readers. I don't know anyone who hasn't been blown away by it, even if it's not usually their genre.
