I imagined England to be the sort of place where people were painfully polite-- with a strong emphasis on order and queuing. Nothing could be further from the truth. I would find myself saying "hi how are ya", as i walk up to greet a shop attendant, to which i am greeted with a cold silence,  and a stare, as if I have deeply insulted someone.
