On a plane you can't charge your Kindle...

I exited Philly today to return to Seattle after my 10 day trip. I had some mixed feelings about it. On one hand I didn't get to see as many people and visit as many places as I would have liked; but my diet was getting poor, I was getting ill from being around my niece and nephew, and I was unable to work as efficiently as possible while in Philly due to several factors. It was great seeing those who I did get to meet-up with though, however short it was.

Certainly one of the highlights of my trip was seeing the Eagles crush the Cowboys, but I already discussed that in an earlier post :)

One childish nicety is that I'll be able to play Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead; assuming I can find the time while trying to catch up with the work that I've ignored. Also, Anathem has become rather engrossing, so I hope to read more of that soon (even though I've yet to finish Code Complete 2).

Speaking of Anathem, the whole reason I'm writing at all is because I've fallen victim the greatest complaint about ebooks - my book ran out of batteries. It's rather sad, as i could have sworn I had enough of a charge for 6 hours. I mean, the thing is supposed to last a week and I'm fairly sure I charged it only Saturday. Battery life certainly has been my biggest complaint on the Kindle, as (unlike the Sony eReader), the device is constantly leaking power and you need to charge it ever week, AND it can't be charged over USB. Which leaves me, stuck on a domestic flight, screwed. I suppose once I finish getting through my backlog of print books and (hopefully) start using my Kindle more I'll purchase an extra battery. Hopefully the charge only dissipates so quickly while connected to the device.

Even with the power issue though, I'm glad I'm carrying a Kindle instead of a hard copy of Anathem, which weighs in at ~1000 pages and is only available in hardback (at least as far as I know - it was when I purchased it).

Over the break I decided to upgrade to Delicious Library 2. I'm not exactly sure why, as I hardly use the original version. Rather than trying to figure that out though, I'm curious if there's any solution in place to note that I purchased the Kindle version of the book. What I would really like is a plug-in that syncs my Delicious Library with my Kindle Library, complete with Kindle shelf. Hmm, maybe I finally found a nice side project.
