Life

Well, yesterday was probably the scariest day of my life.

Mike and I were out going to a thrift store last night. It ended up being closed so we left and we were looking for food. We were approaching an intersection (Lake and Itasca) when the light turned yellow. The car in front of us was past the white line and we thought he was going to go through the light. Turns out he didn't. He stopped, Mike didn't see him because we were both assuming he would go through the yellow, and then there was a fender bender. It was really no big deal, but the hood was smoking so we decided to turn the car off, turn the hazards on, and wait for the cops. We assumed the cops would be there fairly fast since the station is about 5 blocks away from where the accident happened. There was quite a bit of damage to Mike's car, but it proabably could have been fixable. Anyway, the car we rear ended had basically no damage. A little plastic thing fell off and that was about it, but the cost is gonna be pricy because the car was a BMW. So that's always good. Anyway, the car we hit moved out of the way and into a parking lot. Like I said earlier though, we didn't want to move the car because it was smoking so we sat in the car with the hazards on wait for 20 FUCKING MINUTES for the cops who are stationed down the block.  As other cars were approacing the left hand lane, (that's the lane we were in, not the left hand turn lane just the far left lane) they wouldn't stop or slow down. Mike and I were so confused about the fact that people were coming to abrupt stops right behind us and not noticing that we were NOT MOVING. And, I'll repeat myself, THE HAZARDS WERE ON. So since there was so many cars almost hitting us, Mike told me to put my seat belt on.

3 minutes later, a car hit us from behind at 60+ miles an hour.

It was honestly the scariest thing I've ever experienced. The back end of Mike's car was on the hood of the car that hit us. I was screaming so loud but didn't even hear myself or realize I was screaming until the car stopped. Mike flung himself in front of me as the car did a 180. And then we were in the middle of the intersection. When everything stopped moving, I noticed the both our were permanently reclined back. The trunk was in the back seat of the car. Right away Mike said get out, because this crash was so high impact that it was a miracle the whole car didnt catch fire. So I got out and could barely stand up becasue I was so dizzy. Mike was too. I looked at my arm and it looked like there was a burn or scrape of some sort on my inner right arm. I still have no idea how it happened, and today it's a bruise. We basically stumbled around in confusion for a little bit then I saw Mike's car and the first thing I said was, "What the fuck?" I really didn't know what else to say. A lady in a white SUV heard me and was gonna call an ambulance but I  said no. Other people in other cars who saw the accident were screaming at us to get the license plate number. At the point, the cops finally turned up and didn't let us anywhere near the other car. Eventually two ambulances showed up and took the two people in the other car away. We got all the paperwork situated and then left the scene.

Today I feel like I just got done with a really intense workout. I'm pretty sore and my arm looks bad but other than that I'll live.

And I failed to mention this to my parental units in fear of them never letting me get into a car again in my life. But I'm thinking I should inform them. I don't know.

Basically, I'm so glad Mike and I are okay. We only suffered bumps and bruises and I really couldn't be more thankful.

I take so much for granted.
